Synopsis
After five years living in France, I return home to Colombia and travel, for the first time, to Palenque de San Basilio (70km from Cartagene) the first 'free' village, founded in the 16th Century by africans fleeing slavery. The film takes place during the period of my travel to Palenque and starts with me returning to my hometown, Bogota, before moving onwards to Carthagene and then finally the journey leading to Palenque de San Basilio. Throughout the film, both the voice-over and images presented retrace my journey and the forces which drove me to create this project: to experience Colombia through film.
