Synopsis
Running along Cape Town’s Atlantic coastline, the Sea Point Promenade – and public swimming pools at its centre - is a beautiful and unique public space. Once a bastion of Apartheid exclusivity, the area now hosts an apparently easy mix of age, race, gender, religion, wealth status and sexual orientation: a space where all South Africans have a right to exist. But what is the actual reality experienced here? Part visual essay and part observational film, SEA POINT DAYS is a highly cinematic attempt to make sense of issues around nostalgia, identity and belonging in South Africa today.
