Mano Mendi lives in Rubon Chiquero on the Island of Santiago in Cape Verde. He is the last cimboa player. A cimboa is a single-stringed violin used to accompany the Batuque groups that are characteristic of that island. Recently, his music attracted the interest of Totavares, a music teacher from the capital, Praia.
