Synopsis
Along the magic shores of beautiful lake Bunyoni, located in the south-western corner of Uganda, early and unhappy marriage is a certain destiny for women who didn't go to school. It's them who are interacting with the land resources on a day to day basis. As households often have little land which fertility is always declining, farming provides just about enough to feed the family. As they need to earn cash to pay for children school fees, clothes and other basic items, more and more women are turning to crafts where there are associations to support them and connect them with a market. As a low cost activity which exploits the resources offered by the environment, craftsmaking could in the future become a stronger safety net for women and their children. In the meanwhile, it also gives them the opportunity to explore that creativity that has long been neglected in their society and to create a social network through which they can get out of isolation and share experiences in solidarity.
