Synopsis
Schatkamer Rijksmuseum is a visual portrait of the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Peter Delpeut looked for the unorthodox way of picturing the beauty, scale and tangibility of the enormous collection. So he exploited the complicated logistics of the museum. A choice selection of objects is shown, not in silent glory in glass cabinets, but as they are handled by the museum staff: transported, cleaned, restored, photographed, hung etc. This makes the film an exceptionally rich visual spectacle while offering the viewer a rare opportunity to experience the tangibility, value and fragility of all those treasures.
